I can’t believe I missed super snowstorm Jonas! I travelled out to Dallas for a work trip this weekend right before it hit. I was mildly upset that I didn’t get to cozy up on the couch and watch movies, go outside to make snow angels, or sip some hot cocoa. I was, however, very happy that I didn’t have to partake in any shoveling activity. The storm did manage to put a wrinkle in my plans by leaving me stranded in Dallas for an extra day. I was one of the lucky ones who managed a rescheduled flight within two days even if it did take a change of airline, two planes, and a handful of additional hours to do so.
I’ve teamed up with some blogger friends to give you the chance to win a prize you’re going to love — a $200 Starbucks Gift Card!
Every few months I have a special lunch outing with a core group of work colleagues. It’s rare that we can all align our busy calendars so it’s typically only four times a year that we are able to escape. Over the course of the nearly four years I have been venturing out with this group we have come to create a lunch tradition. It involves going to our favorite downtown Princeton spot, Teresa’s, followed by a scoop of ice cream at Halo Pub. I have long since wanted to write a post about this dynamic lunch duo. However; I ALWAYS end up diving into my lunch before remembering to photograph. So here is my promise that on our next return I will manage to pull it together for a review!
Its burger breakdown number two today! I did warn you it was all about the burgers this week. If you missed the first post about burgers and brunch at the Committed Pig in Morristown, NJ you can find it here: http://www.behindtheplates.com/burgers-and-brunch-at-the-committed-pig-morristown-nj/
This week it’s all about burgers! First, I want to clear up any possible confusion about why I would post a detox recipe and discuss my healthier eating resolution post last week only to completely derail myself with gluttonous burgers a week later. I taste tested and visited the next 2 posts’ restaurants back in December. I took the opportunity during my holiday time off to test out recipes and visit some exciting new eateries so that I could bring all of you some great material for 2016. So don’t be surprised if you see some less than perfectly “clean-eating” recipes thrown into the mix in upcoming weeks as well. Now that I’ve thwarted all possible judgments for food indiscretion, it’s time to get into my first burger review.
It’s here people, the dreaded time of year where we no longer have any excuses to eat mounds of cookies or heavy holiday main courses paired with one too many calorie ridden alcoholic concoctions. While a part of me is sad that the spirit of this foodie season is over, I am definitely ready for some lighter fare. It’s been a week of carb filled gluttony and very little greens. It’s hard to believe but I actually was starting to crave lettuce. I can only hope that this sudden hankering and enthusiasm for clean eating sticks round for the next five months. This resolution season more than ever my list has some diet themes near the top. The official wedding countdown is ticking away for my June nuptials.
