April Foodie Happenings Around NJ

Hooray for April…it means that Spring is finally here! And although it may not fully seem like it yet (It actually snowed in my town last night) we will see warmer days in the very near future. This is exciting for a number of reasons one being, outdoor activities. You’ll see on this month’s lengthy list of happenings that the food trucks that hibernated all winter are back in full force, wineries are moving events to the outside, as well as fairgrounds kicking off their warm weather schedules.

Get out and enjoy that sunlight. We could all use some vitamin D after that winter we had 🙂

April 2nd, 8th and 12th- Kids Can Cook, Too!; Cape May, NJ: Join  Executive Chef Jeremy of Congress Hall in Cape May for one of his upcoming kid centric workshops. The children will learn basic cooking techniques and by the end will be prepping like a pro! They get to eat their creations as well. April 10th-Annual Spring Walk Around the World Wine Event Tasting; Bernardsville, NJ: The Bernard’s Inn will be hosting its annual event featuring over 100 wines from around the globe. There will be hors d’oevres and of course wine tastings throughout the evening. April 11th – MFEE Chili Cookoff; Montclair, NJ: The Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence is putting on a competition and these chef’s will really need to bring the heat to take home the big win! April 12th- Red Bank Street Fair and Craft Show; Red Bank, NJ: Bring the fmaily down to wander the streets of Red Bank while enjoying the over 200 vendors, crafters, and artists that will be on display. The free event will run from 11AM-5PM. April 16th- Jersey Shore Chef Invitational; Spring Lake, NJ: This is the big kick-off event to Jersey Shore Restaurant Week! Come sample some of the best shore eats all under one roof. April 17th-26th- Jersey Shore Restaurant Week; Various NJ Locations: Its here again….the anticipated restaurant week at the Jersey Shore. April 18th- Food Truck Fiesta-West Windsor, NJ: This bi-annual Food Truck festival takes over the Mercer County festival grounds. Its only a $5 admission fee and it will get you access to the live music, fire pits, children’s activities and of course the food trucks (Their food is at an additional cost). April 24th- New Jersey Annual Spring Wine Festival; Short Hills, NJ: The Short Hills Hilton puts on this annual wine evening each year. Going into its 8th year its losing no steam with a line up of over 150 wines to be sampled and the sounds of live jazz music for the evening. April 25th- My Way: A Party Celebrating Sinatra’s 100th; Hoboken, NJ: The Hoboken Elks club is putting on quite the celebration of a lifetime, quite literally. The Hoboken Museum will take you back in time for a night of dancing, dinner, and drinks all in the name of Frank Sinatra. April 25th- NJ Annual Folk Festival: New Brunswick, NJ: A day dedicated to folk music, heritage, and education. This unique event is put on by undergraduate students as a part of their continued education. April 25th-26th- Fast Tracks and Food Trucks Festival; Milford, NJ: Going into its 2nd year Alba Vineyard is coming back with a bang. Their upcoming food truck festival will showcase some of the best regional trucks. The Jeff Bellfry band will also be on site performing live for the festival goers. April 26th – Taste of Bloomfield; Bloomfield, NJ: This Sunday afternoon event will highlight the town of Bloomfield’s chefs and what they have to offer. The event celebrated the culinary inspiration and passion that the town cultivates.
