A Foodie’s Guide to Hell’s Kitchen, NYC

I am not a New Yorker, or even a full on frequenter of the city. I say this upfront because there are PLENTY of restaurants I have not tried, discovered, or reviewed yet. This post comes from a recent business week trip and a date weekend spent in the Hell’s Kitchen area of the city. For the work trip, I was lucky enough to be with a group of like-minded food lovers who were excited at the prospect of trying out some of the area’s restaurants. Based on a little research, some friendly recommendations, and pure proximity we scoped out our week’s food conquests. This is a compilation of the best restaurants to encounter while visiting. It will give locals some new inspiration if they haven’t already tried these locations. And for the visitor or tourist, you can try these eateries with confidence that you will be eating something delicious. One quick public service announcement…I apologize for the lack of photos. After long days in our conference I tended to eat first, think later. You’ll just have to trust me!

Sun Basket Meal delivery-Why You Should Try and $30 off!

The New Year is almost here and what better time to start fresh?! Part of me is sad that I no longer have the excuse of Christmas celebrations to stuff myself and indulge in gluttonous activities. However; the other half of me is excited to get back on track with my daily eating and exercising routines. I am going to resolve to be a little more conscious of what I am cooking throughout the week. Last year, leading up to the wedding I had become a pro at this activity. Unfortunately, I let the post-wedding bliss get to my head and my stomach a little too much this fall!

Thanksgiving Round-up- Recipes, Tablescapes, and Dining Out

It’s almost Turkey Time!!! Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday of the year. My family’s traditions and large family gatherings each year to celebrate has always held a special place in my heart. I love the concept of taking special time out with family and friends to be grateful and thankful for all that we have. I love that the day kicks off the holiday season. One of our family traditions is to listen to our first Christmas song and watch a classic Christmas movie as a family after the big meal. And of course, I can’t overlook or forget that I absolutely LOVE the holiday feast. There’s really nothing I dislike about Thanksgiving.

Recipe Creation-How to Develop Your Own

DIY, The Dish, The Potpourri | November 2, 2016 | By

I was asked a question recently and it really got my thinking. It was something along the lines of, “How do you come up with your recipes?”. It’s a very valid question for a reader to ask a food blogger and it sparked me to want to share a little more on this topic.

NEW Luxury Dine-In Movie Theater, iPic, Comes to Fort Lee, NJ

I will try to quickly get to the facts and the experience that you all are eager to read about.  When iPic theaters reached out to me to extend the invitation to come in for an advanced tasting and screening at their new (and only) state of the art theater in New Jersey, I was instantly excited.  The fact that I work a full time job with a long commute and carry very busy athletic and social calendars makes it extremely difficult to get to media events to represent Behind the Plates. So when I get an invitation for something that is interesting to me, relevant to the blog and my readers AND on an open day, I do a little happy dance. Ok, time to get down and dirty with the facts on this new theater.

BTP Takes a Honeymoon

It’s been more than a month of failed attempts at devising my latest culinary delight to share with all of you. And by failed attempts, I really mean no attempts! I have been on complete autopilot. The wedding is officially one month away! If that weren’t excitement enough, my work life got a bit more interesting when my supervisor decided to take her leave and my other counterpart is on her way out the door for maternity leave. Did I mention I will also be out of the office for almost a whole month? So I am trying to hold together the pieces of many workloads and enjoy the last 30 days of engaged bliss.
