Fall is in full effect and so are the autumn and pumpkin (of course!!) inspired festivals, dinners, and wine events. Get the family ready for some days at the farm, winery or even the beach for this month’s foodie happenings around NJ!

October 3rd– Fall Around the World Wine Tasting; Bernardsville, NJ: Wouldn’t you love to get to try wines from around the world all in one place? This event features over 100 wines from regions all over the world specially picked by Sommelier, Terri Baldwin. October 4th– Oktoberfest; Peapack-Gladstone, NJ: Ninety Acres will be hosting a lunch buffet and craft brew pairing to celebrate the traditional Oktoberfest. The chef and beverage director will pay homage to the German-inspired event while featuring renowned breweries like Brooklyn Brewery and Dog Fish Head. Get your tickets now!

October 4th-5th – Grand Harvest Wine Festival; Morristown, NJ: The Garden State Wine Grower’s Association has put together yet another exciting NJ wine event. The weekend will feature over 20 local wineries, restaurants, and music. Edible New Jersey Magazine will be sponsoring live demonstrations and wine walks.  And don’t forget all the activities in store for the kiddies. The setting is perfect for Fall at the Fosterfields Living  History Farm.

October 5th– The 26th Annual Clamicon Chowderfest Weekend; Beach Haven, NJ: Every guest will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite classic red and white chowders.  This event includes unlimited chowder tasting, live entertainment, and of course the great chowder cookoff! October 10th– FOOD DAY 2014; Cape May, NJ: Cape May is hopping on board a national campaign surrounding food sustainability and healthy living. This event will focus and promote real food in the community along with the farmers, chefs, and more who are serving it up. October 10th-12th– South Jersey Pumpkin Show; Woodsville, NJ: All pumpkin everything at this event! Get ready for pumpkin weigh offs, pumpkin pie contests, the great pumpkin pyramid display, the pumpkin toss, and FREE pumpkins just for coming! Oh, and there is no entry fee. October 10th-11th– Crystal Springs Resort’s Second Annual Harvest Festival; Vernon, NJ: This admission free event will showcase 30 farmers and artisanal purveyors. The Crystal Springs team will also be hosting a grown-up BBQ and roasting up rabbit and lamb (lots of other BBQ items will be included as well). The kid’s won’t be left out from the fun either with pony rides, hay rides, a petting zoo and pumpkin painting activities on site. There will also be live entertainment, wine tastings, and vendor sampling at all the delicious farm and gourmet food stands. October 16th – Cru Meets Brew 2014; West Orange, NJ: This premier event includes a six course meal, each paired with a brew and a cru (wine). It will showcase some of the most acclaimed North Jersey chef’s culinary creations and Amanti Vino will lead the way for the alcohol involved. The event will benefit MACHE (Montlair Academy for Culinary and Hospitality Excellence) and a new collaborative program at Montclair High School, Intensive Therapeutics. October 18th -HW Mountz Kitchen Tour; Spring Lake, NJ: Get a glimpse into the kitchens of Spring Lake with this self-guided tour. October 18th-19th – 31st Annual Cranberry Festival; Chatsworth, NJ: New Jersey is the 3rd largest cranberry harvest state in the country. This weekend’s Pine Barren celebration will showcase the guest of honor, cranberries, along with hosted craft, antique, and car shows; gourmet food vendors; and local businesses. October 19th- Just Jersey, Jazz & Food Truck Festival; Succasunna, NJ:  All day Jazz will set the tone for this day in the park. Just $5 will get you admission and 25 food trucks will be at your disposal to choose from. The event will also benefit the Roxbury Township Food Pantry. October 20th- Emilio Moro Wine Dinner at Chakra Restaurant; Paramus, NJ:  Join Chakra and Jose Moro, whose father started Emilio Moro wines, for a unique 4 course dining event. Emilio Moro’s wines have won accolades and high ratings from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker. Each of the acclaimed Spanish wines included in this event will be carefully paired with Chef Tomas Ciszak’s menu. October 25th – Fall Festival at Terhune Orchards; Princeton, NJ: Throughout the month the orchard has Saturday festivals at the farm. Apple picking, hay bale mazes, live music, gourmet food and of course award winning wine tastings are all a part of this family fun day at the farm. Admission to the festival is $5. October 26th- Ramsey Farmers Market Pumpkin Painting and Chef Demo Event; Ramsey, NJ: Join the more than 30 local vendors for a day at the market. Special guest vendor, Roots Café will be in attendance as well as chef Josh Bernstein of Sputino’s Restaurant in Clifton who will be inspiring crowds with his chef demonstrations. There will also be children’s events and a special pumpkin painting! It’s a day the whole family can enjoy.
