I have yet another exciting local event to share with all of you. The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFA-NJ) is hosting a fall Harvest Dinner on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Duke Farms Coach Barn in Hillsborough, NJ. It will be a grand display of produce, chefs, and businesses coming together to provide an evening to remember.
“More than a dozen of New Jersey’s finest restaurants and food purveyors will be on hand to provide farm-to-table tastings of fall dishes. Some restaurants include Agricola, The Ryland Inn, Teresa Caffe, Kuzina by Sofia; epicurean caterers include DiShcatering, David Ellis Events, Della Terra Catering, BEX Kitchen and Dean’s Natural Food Market. A raw oyster bar will be featured by Local Abundance and a cheese tasting will be presented by Cherry Grove Farm. Dessert offerings are by Donna & Company, Lovin’ Oven, Milk Sugar Love, and The Dessert Plate. A special feature new to this year’s Harvest Dinner will be a tasting prepared by Riverine Ranch from their very own pasture raised Water Buffalo. Craft beer will be provided through River Horse brewery and local wine will be poured by Alba vineyards.
The Harvest Dinner is not your typical “sit down” tasting dinner! Stations are set up throughout the historic Duke Farms Coach Barn where each chef will prepare and display their culinary talent, serving a savory tasting of their own creation made from freshly harvested ingredients. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle, chat with the chef and staff, inquire about the dishes and preparation techniques, and be fully engaged in the evening’s festivities.
The Jersey Corn Pickers will be on hand to play original and traditional, high energy bluegrass and Ameriana music. Introduced last year and now becoming a Harvest Dinner tradition is our silent auction featuring a selection of fresh produce and products from local farms and businesses, tickets to theater and musical performances, sporting events and dining certificates to fabulous eateries. There will be some exciting surprises as well! All proceeds from the Harvest Dinner help to fund NOFA-NJ’s essential education programs and training for farmers, gardeners and all those in the community who are concerned about the purity of our food system. NOFA-NJ holds many public outreach events throughout the year and we are the voice in organic and sustainable farming and food policy.
Tickets for the Harvest Dinner are $75/pp and can be purchased by calling (908)371-1111 x5 or online at http://www.nofanj.org/fall-harvest-dinner.
The Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA-NJ) is dedicated to supporting sustainable food and agriculture in New Jersey through education, technical assistance and policy action. NOFA-NJ is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.”
