I have been into the partial posts lately! If you are following along with my Honeymoon diaries you know already that the five part travel series is in progress. Well, I am going to do the same in this next set of recipes. Today is the first part of three for a scrumptious summertime meal. This cream buttermilk avocado dressing will be put to good use with the upcoming recipes…so stay tuned!
I once had an avocado buttermilk ranch dressing while out to dinner and it has stuck with me since. I never thought to try and make it on my own at home. What most people don’t know is that dressings are so simple to make at home and the ingredients can be minimal. What I found with my first attempt at my own buttermilk avocado dressing was that mine version was going to turn out much creamier. It ended up being quite a happy discovery. I had hit dressing gold!
My husband was lapping up the sauce with anything he could find to dip in it, including just a spoon. There were some tweeks I needed to make which included lowering the fresh garlic and adding a little vinegar. But when I tried again using these techniques it perfected the already addictive sauce.
While I call it a dressing, it can really be used for anything. Toss with your salad, top your steak or fish, dollop on tacos, dip pretzels and chips, make a crudité platter, etc. There are so very many options to use this dressing and you’ll want every excuse. It has a two day life span when refrigerated (maybe more but it hasn’t tested longer than that in my household as it’s been polished off by then!). What’s even better is that it only takes six ingredients including salt and pepper. If you’re an avocado fiend like me the only ingredient you will need to pick up at the store is the buttermilk itself! It’s a no-brainer.
I dare you to try this recipe and not get hooked!
Stay tuned for some delicious recipes to pair this cool and creamy dressing with. They will be coming soon to BTP!
