February Foodie Happenings Around NJ

Hello Everyone- Welcome to the month of love…and chocolate {mostly chocolate 😉 }. Gear up for quite a handful of chocolate inspired events. They are all great excuses to pick up you’re Valentine’s Day gifts while getting to sample all the sweets for yourself! There’s also some wine, beer, and Mardi Gras celebrations going on around the state that are noteworthy. Its the perfect time to get out from being stuck indoors and embrace the winter spirit by attending one of these exciting events!

February 7th– Chocolate and Wine Festival; West Long Branch, NJ: Join Greater Media’s first Chocolate and Wine Festival at Branches Banquet facility in West Long Branch will be held just in time for the holiday of love. Stock up on gifts for your Valentine while sampling wine and chocolate from all the local vendors. February 7th-8th– Laurita Winery Mardi Gras Festival; New Egypt, NJ: Live music, Louisiana inspired food, and of course wine to go around! Get to Laurita Winery for a weekend of Mardi Gras party fun. February 7th– 18th & 14th-15th – GSWGA’ Wine and Chocolate Weekend; Participating Wineries around NJ: Wineries across the state are participating (in their own ways) for the Garden State Wine Grower’s Association’s Wine and Chocolate Weekend. You’ll see that each winery has their own twist from pairings, to tastings, live entertainment, and unique specials. February 16th-26th (Excluding 20th  and 21st)-Red Bank Restaurant Week; Red Bank, NJ: Red Bank has hopped on the bandwagon and is bringing all your restaurant lovers a full week of great foodie deals. For just $30 you’ll enjoy a 3 course pre-fixed meal at one of your favorite eateries. There are over 30 participating. February 20th – 3rd Annual Winter Wine Festival; Short Hills, NJ: The Hilton Short Hills will be hosting quite the wine event this month. With over 150+ wines to taste, classes, live music, and the chance to make it a getaway (by spending the night at the hotel); it promises to be an exciting evening. Did I mention its all for a great cause? A portion of the proceeds will go to Family Promise of Bergen County, which serves to help those who are homeless.


February 20th– Laurita Winery Ice Sculpture Festival; New Egypt, NJ: Laurita Winery has no shortage of fantastic family friendly events year round. This month’s second featured event is a showstopper. Join them for sculpture displays with the Guinness Book of World Record holder, Ed Jarrett. There will be plenty of other activities to enjoy including a photo booth, spiked hot chocolate and even a Fireworks display. Get your tickets now!


February 21st– Big Beer Brew Festival; Morristown, NJ: 200+ brews, food tastings, and entertainment round out this large beer inspired event. The day will be broken out into 2 sessions so head to the site to pick your time and get tickets! There are also various levels of entry fees; for VIP ticketholders you’ll get treated to special dishes from local restaurants as well as early admission. There will also be shuttle service to get you to the event.


February 25th– Jersey Shore Restaurant Week Grand Tasting; Long Branch, NJ: The Ocean Place Resort and Spa will host this 2 hour tasting event. Come sip on over 30 wines from around the globe. There will also be local food fare from the locally acclaimed Joe Leone’s (located in Point Pleasant and Sea Girt), Gourmet Kitchens, and Alexian Pates. February 28th– March 1st– Sugar Maple Celebration; Hillsborough, NJ: Duke Farms has an exciting weekend planned out with activities, demonstrations and tastings all focused on…Sugar Maple of course! It’s a free event and participants will learn how Sugar Maple syrup is made, discuss forestry practices, and sample the end product. It’s a great way to get involved with New Jersey’s agriculture and artisan food production.
